Getting Advisement

UCAC is the entery point for every freshmen student with the exception of BAMD, and the School of Engineering. We are the home of Dual/Concurrent Students, Non-degree undergraduate and graduate students. As well as the home of the Vision Inspired Scholarship Through Academic Success (VISTA)

As a student you can receive academic advising in several formats:

  1. Visit with your academic advisor during normal business hours. (This is the preferred method for receiving advising).
  2. Limited advising via e-mail.
  3. Telephone advisement (this option is available for only out of state students).
  4. "Coming soon" - On-line advising.

As a student you are required to come in each semester for mandatory advising.

News

Welcome - August 2009

Dear Students,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to University College Advisement Center (UCAC). This is an exciting time in a student’s academic life. This maybe your first time away from home and missing your family or you are just excited about starting your college journey. No matter what your path, UCAC is there to assist you in your academic success. UCAC is the entry point for every freshman student with the exception of BAMD, and the School of Engineering. UCAC is the home of Dual/Concurrent students, non-degree undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, we are the managing unit of the Vision Inspired Scholarship Through Academic Success (VISTA).

Students in UCAC are either exploring possible majors or have already decided on a major and are taking the necessary pre-requisite courses to be accepted into their degree granting college (DGC). UCAC will be your home college until you transfer into a degree granting college. It is our goal at UCAC to assist students in meeting requirements to get into their degree granting colleges in a timely manner. UCAC advisors assist students with planning their schedules, interpreting degree requirements, and referring them to other campus resources that may benefit them.

No matter what path you are on, UCAC advisors are there to provide guidance and direction to assist you in your academic journey.

Welcome to the University of New Mexico
