UAC Peak Times

The peak advising times are currently underway in UAC as Summer/Fall 2012 registration begins. Students should remember to be patient, as each advisor provides good quality advisement for each individual student. Students should also come prepared to advisement sessions with a schedule proposal that incorporates a minimum of 12 potential credit hours for the upcoming summer/fall semester.

Students in University College can make appointments in UAC on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Walk-in days will be on Tuesday and Friday.  To schedule an appointment, students can go to the left side of the website, or come to our office at the University Advisement & Enrichment Center, Room 105.

Managing Quick Advisement Questions

If you have a quick advisement question, UAC advisors can provide answers through e-mail; however, students need to be clear and concise while inquiring information through e-mail. In order to successfully engage in a quick advisement question by e-mail, students need to include the following within the email to their advisors:

  • First and last name
  • Student ID number
  • Use UNM e-mail account
  • Provide a brief statement that indicates the nature of the e-mail

Lobo Trax Course Planner

Students may have holds lifted without visiting an advisor by placing courses on their Lobo Trax course planner and e-mailing advisors to review the course selections. For detailed instructions regarding the course planner please visitThe Course Planner ( http://advisement.unm.edu/Planned%20Courses.pdf ).  Once you have placed at least 12 credit hours in your course planner, email your advisor and include your name, ID#, and major on that email.

Need forms filled out?

Students needing signatures for the Consortium Agreement Forms and Transition Summary Forms must drop off the forms at the front desk.  The advisor will complete the form within two business days and have the form ready for pick up at the UAC Front Desk.

Due to high student traffic, advisors will not complete the Consortium Agreement Form or Transition Summary Form during a student visit as the forms must always be left at the front desk.

Advisement Preparation

Students should understand that establishing a successful advising partnership requires responsible planning. Before entering an advisement session, students will need to have questions and/or materials prepared to discuss with their academic advisor. For example, bringing a completed schedule proposal, copy of LOBOTrax, and academic based questions will better help assist advisors in providing essential information for students.

Advisement holds will be placed on students; accounts every semester, while they are in University College and the requirement to visit a UAC advisor coincides. Advisement sessions are not designed to simply remove holds. It is opportunity for advisors and students to address methods of accomplishing future goals. Schedule proposals and core sheets can be located under academic forms on our website.
