About Fatima Guevara :

Fátima was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico where she earned her bachelor’s degree in International Relations. In Mexico, Fátima worked as an English and French instructor for underprivileged students in Elementary and Middle School. Fátima has previous experience in academic advising working for the Department of Academic Exchange at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León where she advised students and processed applications for the study abroad program. In 2018, Fátima came to Albuquerque as an international student and earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies and an M.A. in Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology at UNM. Fátima speaks English, Spanish, and French and studied Nahuatl (Aztec) language during her graduate studies. Fátima enjoys using her professional and language skills to serve underrepresented and minoritized students in higher education. Fátima’s goal is to support and advocate for students through a culture and identity-based approach to advisement to provide opportunities for academic and professional success. During her free time, Fátima enjoys gardening, dancing, and playing with her dogs.
