Professional Intern

About Fatima Guevara :

I was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico where I earned a BA in International Relations. In Mexico, I worked as an English and French instructor for underprivileged students in Elementary and Middle School. I also worked for the Department of Academic Exchange at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León where I advised students and processed applications for the study abroad program. In 2018, I came to Albuquerque as an international student and earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies and an M.A. in Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology at UNM.

My Role in OAS

As a professional intern with the Office of Advising Strategies, I support advising units across UNM to provide academic advising for undergraduate students. Moreover, I also support OAS with various projects focusing on academic advisement and student support.

I enjoy using my professional and language skills to serve underrepresented and minoritized students in higher education. My goal within OAS is to support and advocate for students through a culture and identity-based approach to advisement to provide opportunities for academic success.
