Academic Advisement Coordinator
About Danielle Isabelle-Berrien:
I am originally from Vermont, but have been a desert rat much of my adult life – Arizona for 20+ years and in New Mexico since 2015. I was an advisor for 13 years in Tucson – at both the University of Arizona (UA) and Pima Community College (PCC). I have also taught courses in student success, major exploration, and transfer strategies. In addition, I was a Career Services Director at a small Vermont college for two years. I have guided hundreds of students, including many coming to UNM, through the transfer process towards completing their educational and career goals.
Lastly, I earned an M.Ed. in Counseling from Northern Arizona University and my BS in Family & Consumer Sciences from U Maine-Farmington. And, when I’m not at UNM, I enjoy being outdoors, attending jazz or world music shows, crafting, and finding the next “best” gluten-free muffin or cookie recipe to bake!
My Role in OAS
I coordinate the UNM-ABQ Dual Credit program in UNM’s Transfer & Transition Student Center (TTSC). I work with high school students, their counselors, and occasionally UNM advisors/faculty to support dual credit students. I attend UNM and high school events to share information on dual credit as well as offer guidance on the application process, eligibility requirements, and application deadlines. I also work on state dual credit initiatives with the NM Dual Credit Partnership.
I also support TTSC services and programs. Each October, I co-facilitate with Sarah Dominguez UNM’s National Transfer Student Week celebration and activities.
