Jim Williams
Administrative Coordinator
About Jim Williams:
I’m a New Mexico native and proud UNM alum, having earned both my BA and MBA here at the University of New Mexico. I’m excited to serve as an Administrative Coordinator with the Office of Advising Strategies, where I support programs that strengthen the student experience across campus.
My professional background includes arts marketing, event planning, and organizational support, and I’m drawn to roles that blend creativity, collaboration, and service. I’ve worked with organizations such as the American Montessori Society, NYC Pride, and Derek Jeter’s Turn2 Foundation—experiences that deepened my commitment to community-centered work and strong operational support. I also spent time traveling and performing with Up With People, which shaped my passion for cultural exchange and building inclusive communities.
Outside of work, I enjoy theatre, music, and travel.
My Role in OAS
In my role, I help coordinate daily operations and support projects related to academic advising, retention, and student success. I work with both the Transfer and Transition Student Center and the Testing and Training Center, helping each team stay organized and run smoothly. I especially enjoy contributing to initiatives that create welcoming, supportive environments for students and staff.Ask Me About
